Jamnagar , a historical town on the shore of the Gulf of Kutch is a gem of Kathiawar . Jamnagar is rich with islands, world famous shrines, forts, bird sanctuary and marine national parks. Jamnagar is now counted among one of the most popular pilgrimage destinations in Gujarat as well as in India as millions of people visit the famous Lord Krishna's temple at Dwarka annually.

Jamnagar is also called the Oil Capital of India producing oil and petroleum products from one of the world largest oil refineries of Reliance Petroleum and Essar Oil. The city also hosts major Industries like Gujarat State Fertilizer Corporation , Shree Dig Vijay cements and other major brass parts Industries. Reliance Industries are also coming up with Special Economic Zone close to the Oil refineries and will have major export oriented Industries very soon.

Jamnagar is becoming admired among the visitors of Gujarat for its rich assortment temples. Dwarkadhish temple is the chief pilgrimage place in India . The city is also called as Swarna Dwarka (Golden Dwarka) because of this treasure. Bala Hanuman temple is world famous for its continuous chanting of Jai Ram, Shri Ram .  This chanting is practicing by the devotees since 1964. Thus it finds a place in Guinness Book of World Records. Siva, temple, Jain temple, Vardhman Shah's temple, Rishi Shah's temple are also worth to visit by its tourists.

The tower of Mandvi & Pancheshwar and Khambhalia & Grain Market Gate has some famous remains of Jamnagar . Solarium, the Ranjit Institute of Poly-radio therapy is well known among the visitors of Gujarat for its treatment for skin disease. Darbargadh is palace of tremendous architectural beauty. This palace is made in a style that blends Rajput and European fashion. Lakhota Museum is frequently visited by the foreigners for its highly unique fresco panting depicting the battle scenes. The Museum of Lakhota , located on the center of the Lakhota Lake is also another reason of making Jamnagar a tourist luring one.

Air

Indian airline service well connects Jamnagar with Bombay .

Rail

Jamnagar has a very fair railway service to Bombay and Ahmedabad. Hapa junction is only 9kms far from Jamnagar .

Road

Jamnagar is highly linked with all the major places of Gujarat . Rajkot 100 km, Palitana 246 km. Somnath 257 km, Dwarka 148 km, Ahmedabad 304 kms and Vadodara 400 km. 

Gujarat State transport as well as luxury coaches also attaches Jamnagar with all major cities of Gujarat .


Day Excursions from Jamnagar

Dwarka - The holy city of Lord Krishna ( 120 kms)  

One of the most holiest shrines of Hindus " Dwarka" is 120km away from hotel and a drive of one and Half hour. It is definitely worth it to take a day trip to visit the temples, the coast and the camels along the way. It is advisable to start early to cover the main aarties and visit to the main Dwarkadhish temple , Gopi Talav and Bet Dwarka temple on the Island .

Khijadia Bird Santuary ( 30 Kms)

Jamnagar is a bird watchers paradise... 258 birds have been check listed here at the Khijadia bird sanctuary as well as on the coast and the islands of Jamnagar .

Piroton Island and Narara Marine National Park ( 30 kms + Boat trip for Piroton)

One can also do coral walking and watch corals, octopus, puffer fish, star fish, jelly fish, etc in the Marine National Park . Prior permission is required from the Forest Department for going to marine parks.
