The
word “Cookie” comes from the
Dutch word, “Koekje” meaning
“little cake”. The Dutch brought
these little cakes to their first settlements
in USA and they have been popular ever since.
Cookies are basically made with dough, flavourings
and butter. Depending on the consistency
of the mixed dough, they can be either ‘dropped’
on the baking sheet when they have an irregular
round form often with a peak or the dough
can be kneaded into a roll and the cookies
cut as slices.
The
sliced round of the cookie can be further
punched with a cookie cutter to get different
shapes. Different toppings can be arranged,
dusted, sprinkled on the top of the cookie
and gently pressed in with the back of a
spoon before baking.
